Welcome To DARKLANDS!

Darklands is an informal networking site - a place for writers, editors, and avid readers of dark fiction in all its forms.

Hopefully this virtual space facilitates projects for those interested in crossing-over from horror/dark fantasy/sci-fi writing to crime/thriller/suspense writing (or vice versa), by providing a place to network and discover new markets. It's also a place to discuss forthcoming publications, meet writing buddies, jam on ideas and talk shop - with a neat profile linking to your blog or webpage. Making contacts for interdisciplinary collaborations would also be an ideal use for Darklands, so creatives in theatre and screen industry are most welcome.

Darklands is not genre-based in an exclusive sense - we are concerned with all territories defined by dark texture, atmosphere and suspense. Writers interested in developing great writing skills, invariably traverse various genres in the service of excellent storytelling. Those who are writing for screen and stage, or writing for graphic novel, comic or gaming forms, are as equally welcome as prose authors.

This site will only be as dynamic and useful as the members make it. Feel free to upload photos, spruik your publishing news and events, and start discussions. Develop the community in directions that serve your writing interests - and of course, feel free to invite new members to join...

If in doubt as to where to begin, the Introductions thread in the Forum is a good place to start.

Oh what's this? Ah, a nice comfy chair sitting in the middle of this dark room. Hum, I think I'll have a nice sit down. But wait, what's that in the corner, barely discernible in the gloom. Gasping, I draw back, my teeth bared in a grimace. Hoveri...
