Elizabeth Barrette lives in central Illinois, where she works as a writer and editor. She writes articles, essays, short stories, reviews, interviews, poetry, and more. Her main fields include speculative fiction, gender studies, and alternative religions. Her "darklands" credits include the articles "Elements of Aversion: What Makes Horror Horrifying" and "Visions in the Dark of Light," poems "To Keep the Wolves at Bay" and "bête noire," and short story "Hatred Is Not a Family Value." Watch for her short story "Goldenthread" in the upcoming anthology The Scorched Earth. She often presents panels and workshops at conventions and festivals. She previously served as the Dean of Studies at the Grey School of Wizardry and as Managing Editor of PanGaia. She has eagerly observed the rise of electronic publication and online writing, and hopes to continue working with this cutting edge of literature. Visit her LiveJournal Cyberfunded Creativity community (http://community.livejournal.com/cyberfund_creat/) She enjoys suspension-of-disbelief bungee-jumping and spelunking in other people’s reality tunnels.

Hypatia's Hoard of Reviews
This site reprints book, music, and product reviews -- mostly speculative fiction novels with some Earth-friendly nonfiction, folk music, Tarot decks, and other goodies. Author announcements and news from the publishing industry also appear.

Gaiatribe: Ideas for a Thinking Planet
Part of the Geek Universalis Network, this site supports the premise that humanity is the part of the biosphere that can think, which gives us the responsibility to care for life and the Earth. Here you'll find discussions of renewable energy, sustainable development, intentional community, nature religions, environmental awareness, and related topics.

The Wordsmith's Forge
Here you'll find discussions of writing, editing, environmental & social issues, and other interesting stuff. A star attraction is the monthly Poetry Fishbowl, in which the audience provides prompts and the author writes poems inspired by them.
